Nestled in the live oak forests of the South Carolina Lowcountry, the Secret Garden Cottage is a timeless creation. Inspired by English Cottage style architecture, this three bedroom, four bath house blends the finest traditional English details with a contemporary lifestyle. The owner’s love of private gardens is prevalent throughout the site with multiple gardens she is continuously developing.
The meandering driveway leads you underneath the tree canopy and on to the rustic stone entry of the cottage. A stone archway and wooden gate welcome the visitor into the first of many gardens around the home. A stained glass entry doorway opens to a light-filled interior with views to the lake at the rear of the site. A multitude of outdoor spaces, including a retractable screened porch allow the owners to live “outside” and enjoy the natural surroundings of the home.
The Secret Garden cottage embraces nature from every angle. Deciduous vinery frames various views of the house, appearing around stone archways, above windows, and entangled in wooden trellises. A secret door from the entrance façade entices the visitor to explore what lies on the other side.
This small cottage lives large with its open floor plan and celebrates the owners’ love of nature, becoming a space they can uniquely call “home”.
